JITRA: Deputy Minister of Internal Security Datuk
Mohd Johari Baharum said he always speaks the truth
and is not worried about the allegations of
corruption hurled at him.
"(I) tell the truth," he said when
asked to comment on the reminder by Prime Minister
Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi that he should not
implicate other parties concerning the allegations
made against him.
At a media conference after launching the
national-level Islam Hadhari Village 2007 in Kepala
Batas, Penang, on Friday, Abdullah had said that he
had spoken to the Kubang Pasu Member of Parliament
and told him not link other people to the allegation
made against him.
Mohd Johari, when met after opening
the 33rd general meeting of the Parent-Teacher's
Association (PTA) of Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan
(Tamil), Changlun, near here, Saturday, said he did
not know what the Prime Minister had told the media.
"I don't know. (You) have to ask Pak
Lah. I don't know what Pak Lah said (to the media)
actually," he said when questioned repeatedly by
reporters.
Asked whether he was prepared to
give his clarification to the Prime Minister, Mohd
Johari said he frequently met with Abdullah in his
capacity as Deputy Minister.
"He (Abdullah) is the Minister (of
Internal Security) and I am his deputy.
(We) often meet," he said. Asked
whether the Prime Minister had discussed the case
with him, Mohd Johari said so far there had been no
discussion with Abdullah.
"So far there is nothing. I have no
problem. I am not perturbed if I am called. What I
did was to follow procedure," he pointed out.
He described the allegation that he
had received more than RM5 million to release three
criminals under the Emergency Ordinance as a wild
accusation.
Asked whether the Anti-Corruption
Agency officers had met him, Johari said so far no
one had seen him. - Bernama
