ALOR STAR: A hawker is in a coma after two men,
claiming to be car repossessors, knocked him down
with his own car yesterday.
Ahmad Jalaludin Abdul Aziz, 44, suffered serious
head injuries and is on a life-support system in
Alor Star Hospital’s intensive care unit.
His wife, Salmah Zain, 48, watched in horror as the
men ploughed into him with the couple’s second-hand
Proton Iswara near their home at 11am.
She said the couple were watching television when
the men barged into their home and took the car keys
from her husband and tried to drive away in their
car.
"My husband grabbed hold of the steering wheel but
the driver kicked him. As they drove off, my husband
ran after the car. The driver rammed into him and my
husband was hurled into the air. He landed several
metres away.
"He landed hard, head first on the ground. Then I
saw blood gushing from his face," she said when met
at the hospital.
Salmah said they had defaulted on their monthly car
loan repayments for the past three months.
"My husband asked them for authorisation from the
bank. They did not show any but behaved like thugs.
They also refused to hear us out," she said.
Neighbours rushed Ahmad Jalaludin to the hospital.
Salmah has also lodged a police report. A Kota Star
District police spokesman said a man, in his 30s,
had been detained. |
