Keadilan ready and confident
Lahad Datu: Parti Keadilan Rakyat is
not only ready to face the next general election but
also confident of notching victory, said its Sabah
chief, Haji Awang Tengah Awang Amin.
He said such confidence was based on the unexpected
response and strong support that the party had been
receiving from the people during their visits
throughout the State.
"We have full confidence in the leadership of
Keadilan and members in Sabah, including in Silam,
because we believe they have the ability to lead and
convince the rakyat that this party is the people's
choice," he said.
He was speaking to reporters after the swearing-in
ceremony of the Keadilan Silam division committee
members, here.
Earlier, Awang Tengah reminded the party leaders and
members not to take their responsibility in facing
the coming election for granted, as they are facing
a major force in Umno.
Meanwhile, he commended the Keadilan Silam's
leadership for successfully holding its annual
general meeting and hoped the divisional election
would bring about positive results, including
additional members.
In the election, the division saw several new
leaders elected, including businessman Johani Abdul
Halim who defeated incumbent chairman, Hassan
Malempang, in a straight fight by a 16-vote
majority, Abdul Wahid Zainal taking over as deputy
chairman and Zulfiqar Abdullah as the new vice
chairman.
