MP and Senator
khalwat allegation:
Ruckus in State
Assembly
SHAH ALAM: Allegations
of an affair between two
politicians had the
state assembly in an
uproar yesterday.
Ng Suee Lim (DAP
Sekinchan) who showed a
photograph of them
supposedly together,
questioned the moral
authority of the state
as he claimed the two
were committing khalwat.
He named the duo in the
state assembly as
Senator Datin Paduka Nor
Hayati Onn and Gombak MP
Datuk Dr Rahman Ismail.

He claimed the photo was
taken at Eastin Hotel in
Petaling Jaya and
insisted he had another
photo of them taken in
the Riverview Hotel in
Kota Baru during the
Pengkalan Pasir
by-election.
Ng's allegations were
interrupted by Barisan
Nasional assemblymen who
pointed out that the
issue had nothing to do
with the motion that was
on the table,debate of
the state budget.
A shouting match ensued
with Datuk Zakaria Mat
Deros (BN Pelabuhan
Klang) calling the
Opposition to stop their
wild allegations and
refrain from raising
such issues in the
assembly.
He said the matter was
in court and everyone
should leave the
decision to it.
Datuk Abdul Aziz Mohd
Noh (BN Permatang)
invoked the standing
orders that the speakers
were not following
procedures and speaking
out of context.
At this juncture,
Speaker Tan Sri Onn
Ismail ordered all to
sit down and said that
as the issue was in
court, it should be left
to the courts to decide.
Onn, who is the father
of Nor Hayati, said
there was an injunction
from the Syariah court
on the issue and any
discussion may be
regarded as contempt of
court.
A negative of the photo
was posted on the
website of Selangor
Opposition leader Teng
Chang Khim but Nor
Hayati and Rahman had
earlier denied they were
the subjects in the
photograph and that the
picture was a montage.
When asked to comment on
the issue, Menteri Besar
Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir
Toyo said it was mere
allegations that had
been pasted on the
Internet.
"If we are to believe
everything on the
Internet, we are
finished."
He said he had yet to
talk to both of them and
had not seen the
pictures.
Ng was also chided by
the BN state assemblymen
for raising issues of
leaders contravening
regulations when he too
had been cited for
breaking local council
laws.
Aziz said the Shah Alam
City Council had fined
Ng, who owns a mini
market in Section 9, for
placing a bread rack on
the five-foot path.
Ng said it was a "small
offence" compared to
Zakaria building a
mansion without proper
approvals.
Zakaria was recently
found to have built a
bungalow in Pandamaran,
Klang, without approval
from the Klang Municipal
Council.
The assembly continues
today.
