Pesanan: Tun Mahathir promoting world peace but at war with his
party(news from abcasiapacific.com)lawak sungguh.
In a special edition of Focus, Helen Vatsikopoulos presents the
program from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with an interview with
that country's elder statesman of politics Dr Mahathir bin
Mohamad.
Now awarded the revered honorific title of Tun, the former
Malaysian Prime Minister is writing his memoirs and
promoting world peace through his Perdana Global Peace
Forum.
Ironically, while promoting peace and harmony in the world, Tun
Mahathir is at war with the UMNO, the party he joined over
40 years ago and the man who succeeded him as prime
minister, Abdullah Badawi.
In his wide ranging interview Tun Mahathir discusses his
criticisms of the new prime minister, his political legacy
and his upcoming defamation trial involving Anwar Ibrahim,
his former deputy.
Always controversial, Tun Mahathir also discusses Australia's
past and present prime ministers, saying that Bob Hawke
had a real interest in Asia.
He labels Prime Minister John Howard as the worst of the
Australian prime ministers he has had to work with, saying
'he lectures to people all the time', and describes him as
a 'war criminal' over his involvement in Iraq.
Selected transcripts will be available online after the program
is broadcast.
