SHARING
EQUALLY THE CAKES OF DEVELOPMENTS
by JOHAN
We Malaysians all know that Malaysia attained its Independence on 31st August
1957 - 45 years ago. When Malaya got its Independence from the British Malaya
had a population of about 7 million people - some were natural citizens - born
in Malaya whilst some acquired their citizenship and so there were Bumiputras
(the sons of the soil) and some were non-bumiputras (not born in
Malaya/Malaysia).
To-day after 45 years of Independence Malaysia has a population (citizens) of
23.3 millions - more then 50% are all truly Malaysians - born and brought up in
Malaysia - going to the same type of Sekolah Kebangsaan, singing the National
Anthem Negara Ku, adhering to the same Rukun Negara, speaking the same National
Language - Bahasa Melayu. All of them are hoping and hoping to participate, help
in the government's various development projects and hoping and hoping that they
all could share the fruits of the developments.
Can we keep to our promise? Can we share the cake of progress and developments
equally? All the people (Malaysians) are watching and hoping and soon they will
deliver their decision through their vote for the future developments and
progress of their children and grand children.
BN has nothing to worry. They have been fair to all - all parties, all races and
religions. Even the Orang Aslis (aborigines) have progressed - in education, in
the socio-economic developments and in their jobs and employments.
The Chinese families and communities will continue to be ahead in the economic
sectors of business and trade, housing development, hotels, agricultural and
manufacturing industries, owing bungalow and shop houses and expensive cars.
Most of them have all the economic ability to send their children for further
studies in private colleges and universities locally and overseas as they have
done in the 19th and 20th centuries. They have more then 100 years experience.
The Malays and Indians will continue to progress every year. For the Malay and
Indian families and communities to be as rich and economically developed and
viable and competitive as the Chinese families and communities they must
impressed on their children to study hard, learn hard, train hard, work hard,
and be skillful in all the economic sectors - business, trade, insurance,
manufacturing, agriculture, science, mathematics, IT etc. They must "do
less talk but more actions" and eat quality and nutritious food (like the
Chinese). They must do regular exercise like tai chi too. Sleeping and resting 6
to 8 hours a day is more then enough.
The Malays and the Indians, like the Chinese, must work hard and learn the
"know how" in all the economic sectors for the equal share of the
Malaysian cakes of developments and progress. We must together bake the flour to
make the cake and we equally share and eat the cake together. You work more and
you get more. You talk a lot and you get less.
Are we not lucky and happy with BN? Even the pensioners are given bonus, the
handicap trained and given jobs. What can PAS, KeAdilan, PMR, and DAP offer for
the development and progress of Malaysians? What type of cakes can they bake?
They can talk and talk. They only know to yak and yak, complain and criticize
inside and outside Parliament.
